<image:title>Dr. Adeleine Conanan - About Dr. Conanan She/Her/Hers Clinical Psychologist, PSY31748</image:title>
<image:caption>Contact: 619.436.4231 | hello@adeleinepsyd.com As a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, I work with individuals struggling with overwhelming emotions to find more effective ways to manage their distress and engage in healthy self-expression. I especially enjoy helping adolescents and young adults explore their sense of identity and find meaningful roles in their communities. I earned my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, an APA-accredited graduate program at Alliant International University. During my academic career, I worked with individuals and couples experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety and mood disorders, psychosis, family and relationship conflicts, and trauma. I completed my internship at AACI (Asian Americans for Community Involvement), a community mental health clinic in San Jose, CA, where I gained additional experience working with refugees and asylees as well as substance use among teens. Due to high rates of self-injurious behaviors within the communities I serve, I sought out and received extensive training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, an evidence-based treatment shown to effectively address a wide range of mental health conditions. While I enjoyed the food and atmosphere of the bay area, I returned to the warmer beaches of San Diego and have been in private practice here ever since. I focus on individual and group therapy, as well as psychological evaluations. Through a culturally sensitive lens that incorporates understanding past relationships and behavioral patterns, my goal is to help my clients gain clarity of the obstacles hindering their personal growth and find a path forward that aligns with their personal values. Outside of direct service, I conduct research, presentations, and trainings on Filipino mental health.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Home - Multicultural Counseling</image:title>
<image:caption>Ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic status, health conditions, and religion are all important aspects of our cultural make up. Understanding how these different factors intersect with each other is essential. Our practice is committed to supporting and keeping up-to-date with research that impacts the ethnic- and gender-diverse communities we serve. We hold a particular interest in working with immigrant families, specifically Latino and Asian Americans, and often incorporate an exploration of cultural roots and identity in treatment. As affirming therapists, we provide therapeutic support for LGBTQ+, gender-diverse folx, and people in alternative relationship structures. Continuous self-exploration is an important part of our role as clinicians, and we work to identify and address biases when they arise.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Home - Dialectical Behavior Therapy -Informed</image:title>
<image:caption>Acceptance and change can be a difficult balance to grasp. Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or DBT, assumes that people try the best they can, want to improve, and can do better. It is an evidence-based treatment that consists of teaching four core skills modules: Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. DBT has been shown to be effective in treating a wide range of mental health conditions including depression, trauma, and borderline personality disorder. While a full program requires a year-long participation in individual and group therapy, DBT-Informed utilizes DBT principles and teaches skills during individual work with clients. This provides a flexible and personalized approach to help individuals manage intense emotions and relationship challenges.</image:caption>
